Problem Statement

In Uganda, the pervasive use of polythene bags and plastics has led to severe environmental degradation, posing a substantial threat to the country's ecosystems and public health. The detrimental impact of these non-biodegradable materials is evident in polluted water bodies, compromised soil quality, and the overall degradation of natural habitats. Recognizing the urgency of this environmental crisis, the Green Bag Initiative, orchestrated by KYEG, endeavors to address this issue comprehensively. However, the pressing problem persists as a result of widespread ignorance, inadequate awareness, and the absence of viable alternatives to plastic bags. Consequently, urgent intervention is imperative to reverse the environmental damage, safeguard biodiversity, and pave the way for a sustainable, Plastic-Free Future in Uganda.
